Cirque du Soleil Budapest 2012



The Cirque du Soleil is arriving in Budapest with its extremely successful performance called Alegría.  The Budapest Sportaréna will host 5 performances between 17 and 20 May 2012.
Cirque du Soleil’s performance has been an unforgettable experience for more than 10 million spectators so far.
The word Alegría has a Spanish origin and means happiness, joy or enjoyment.  55 artists from 17 countries perform this magnificent show including acrobatic elements and an astonishing Russian pole performance. More than 100 million spectators have seen the wonders of Cirque du Soleil.

Budapest Summer Festival 2012



Nearly 100 open-stage performances and concerts will be held on the Margit Island and in the Városmajor. Budapest theatres performances move to open-air stages for 3 months at the start of the summer season. Unforgettable experiences are offered to spectators with nature as a backdrop during the warm evenings.
The BSF might indeed be the most colourful variety of music and theatre programs of the country on offer. As an appetizer: the world-famous Los Vivancos flamenco performance, Mikis Theodorakis’s Zorba; and Puccini’s Turandot with its excellent ballet company, the choir of 200 singers, and a spectacular light show.

Budapest Wagner Days



The seventh year in the running of ‘Budapest Wagner Days’ is no different from the great tradition of having a new premier every year. This year the premier of the Tannhäuser will be the latest addition to complete the series of the four episodes of the Ring and the Budapest Wagner days.

EuroGames Budapest 2012



The organizers of the EuroGames 2012 Budapest are expecting more than 3800 amateur and professional athletes, 2200 supporters, 4000 visitors and nearly 100 international press and media representatives.
The EuroGames is a sport event that attracts amateur and professional athletes across 22 European countries to participate in 14 different sports.
This event aims to promote the popularity of these sporting activities and encourage amateur athletes.

Sziget Festival 2012



One of Europe’s biggest annual, one week long, open-air music festival celebrates its 20th birthday this year with plenty of exceptionally good programs and world famous performers at the Óbudai Hajógyári-island.  Recently the festival was prestigiously awarded: out of Europe’s 25 biggest festivals the Sziget came first in the European Festival Awards. The following bands will take to the stage in 2012: Crystal Fighters, Mando Diao, Placebo, The Stone Roses.

Budapest Christmas Fair


There are several Christmas fairs all arround the city, but the most famous is at Vörösmarty Square. The Christmas fair in the heart of the city is waithing for you from 18 November to 30 December every day (excluding 24 (just untill 2 p.m.), 25 and 26 Dicember) from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can buy authentic hand-crafted wooden toys, mugs, beeswex candles etc., christmas decorations, tablecloths, clothes and so on and so forth. Above the hundred wooden pavillions where you can by some special gifts, you can enjoy some open-air performances. Or just walk around the Christmas Market and enjoy the pre-Christmas atmosphere and the beautiful 19th century archtecture of Vörösmarthy tér. Do not miss to taste some of the classic winer traditional spicy (kolbász) and sweet foods (kürtöskalács) foods with a mug of mulled wine to feel better the hungarian taste.

Santa Claus Factory – The Wood of Angels


You can find the MikulásGyár (Santa Claus Factory) on Felvonulási tér, near the Heroe’s Square with many programmes for children during the afternoon, while as of the late afternoon and during the evening it offers to bring joy to adults with the help of a multitude of quality pop artists. The huge Christmas fare with the sole free ice rink in town were introduced to further entertain the visitors and donators. The more important thing in Santa Claus Factory to take a donation if it is possible to help the needy to have a joy at Christmas time. The Wood of Angels also talk about donation, as one of the most important thing in Christmas period also, but offer you different programmes, concerts as well.
